The article analyses the concept of enculturation, strongly present in the Jesuit tradition, as a possible way to rebuild Europe. After tracing the relationship between enculturation and democracy through a quick reference to Habermas’s thought, the author focuses on analyzing the internal dynamics of this process, demonstrating how it can be understood through D. Davidson’s model of triangular externalism. The author focuses on the relationship between Davidson’s principle of charity and the positive praesupponendum at the beginning of the “Spiritual Exercises” of Ignatius of Loyola. Finally it is made clear, that the counterparts of the dialogue should allow themselves to be correct: admitting the possibility of being wrong is essential to an honest interaction with the other.
