In this paper, the Author reflects on the impact that the most important converging technologies of the contemporary era, namely artificial intelligence and the internet, have had in the field of legal experience. On the one hand, she will focus on the aspiration of artificial intelligence to emulate and /or replace human activities, which has already produced significant practical applications with the development of the so-called legal expert systems. On the other hand, she will focus on the aspiration of the so-called lex informatica, and its technical qualification in terms of code, to replace traditional law in the context of cyberspace. To face this new world, a new regulatory approach is needed, in order to take into special account the ethical dimension of law, as well demonstrated by EU in its latest legal initiatives on artificial intelligence and digital rights.
