In this paper, the Author investigates the main frontiers of technologies in medicine, in their anthropological implications. The extension of these technologies, from genetics to robotics, from complex data systems to Health Technology Assessment, reveals the risk that the ethical-anthropological perspective is extrinsic, sometimes extraneous, to the technological development. Our historical context shows a strong paradox: while many pragmatic aspects are illuminated, the sense of the direction of technological progress appears increasingly obscure. The sense of limitation and vulnerability, on the other hand, can lead all the protagonists of the techno-anthropological storytelling to an integration of their own perspectives and to a recognition of some common criteria for facing the unknown yet to be known and experienced.
